Week 2 - ToC

Theory of Change

Sustainable Culture, Identity?

- Are we losing our culture through generations? - what are the implications/consequences.
- Is culture becoming diluted through diaspora and adaptation?
- Does this mean we will become one super culture (globalisation)? Resulting in loss of cultural identity as an individual as well as a collective?

Personal Experience:

My parents moved over from India and when we were younger they would tell us things about our religion/culture. Over time as they adapted into the Kiwi culture we (my brother & I) lost that knowledge. Now that we're older and are curious about our roots, our parents have lost touch with their own roots, history, culture.

I wouldn't be able to pass this on to the next generation. Reading things online isn't the same as talking to someone who has that experience and knowledge (someone you trust and can rely on).

This has led to a sense of detachment from myself, parents and community. Where is that sense of belonging (security)?
